CEO/President - R. Lee Chapman
Lee Chapman started in the underground utility construction business as a laborer for a small natural gas distribution contractor in the Kansas City Metro area. He has experience in all aspects of the business from the ground up. Lee always had a head for business even as he labored in the field, he strived to understand every angle of the business. His ambition was apparent to everyone around him and by 1998 he was promoted to Vice President.
In 2000 Lee started Heartland Midwest with an aggressive plan to be the largest and best telecommunications contractor in the KC Metro area. By 2005 he had met and surpassed his goal.
In 2005 he added the water / sewer division, this division has done very well and proves to be an asset to his company.
In 2006 he expanded operations to include a branch in San Antonio, TX.
The secret to Lee's success is his entrepreneurial spirit. Although he is protective of his company and employees, Lee is always willing to take a chance when he can see the need in a market. His outstanding work ethic, down to earth attitude and determined character make him a true entrepreneur.
Lee and Heartland Midwest support the non-profit organization “Big Brothers Big Sisters.” Lee spends several hours per week volunteering his time as a “Big Brother.”
